Photovoltaic

solarnTact’s cutting-edge slot die coating technology and equipment is being applied to the development of photovoltaic (PV) devices, thereby sustaining an industry which is expected to grow to $116.5 billion by 2019. The PV industry is under constant pressure to reduce production costs effectively, in order to decrease the price per kilowatt hour to be in parity with or lower than traditional fossil fueled energy sources. nTact’s slot die systems offer highly efficient use of materials and low equipment cost of ownership, presenting a very attractive manufacturing alternative for the PV industry when compared to typical vapor deposition or sputtering techniques and other technologies with poor material utilization.

nTact systems are already being evaluated for lower cost production of Perovskite PV, Organic PV, Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC), CIGS, CdTe and selected Si wafer based photovoltaic technologies for depositing a variety of active layers as well as antireflective films to improve PV efficiencies.

nTact was recently the recipient of a National Science Foundation award to development and manufacture stable, cost effective perovskite photovoltaic devices by adapting and using their proprietary slot die coating technology and systems.
